GALLERIST ALEX DUVE: HIS SELF-CARE AS SOCIAL LIGHT
What is your passion?
I have a passion for life, all aspects of it. Not just for art. I'm lucky to have made my main passion my profession, but it's not just art, it's every aspect of life that I'm passionate about. I enjoy life in every aspect.
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Social, honest and perhaps a little different? Whatever that means .....
What do you do to feel good?
First and foremost, I try to make sure I get enough sleep. I love to sleep. And I need my 8 hours. It doesn't always work out, but to feel good and be 100% efficient, I need 8 hours of sleep.
I drink 2-3 liters of water every day, which is essential for my well-being.
These two things are the core aspects of my inner peace.
I try to keep my alcohol consumption to a minimum, which is not easy as a gallery owner. A big part of my job is socializing with clients, and alcohol is usually involved. Sometimes you have to pull yourself together to say no and I have to admit, it doesn't always work.
Getting out of Berlin every few weeks is another important aspect of my well-being. Go away for the weekend and go to bed early and don't drink. That's the best way to recharge my batteries. There are too many temptations in Berlin, which can be very counterproductive.
What are your feel-good routines?
In addition to the above, I go to the gym 3-5 times a week and jog 1-2 times a week. Both early in the morning at 7 a.m. This routine wakes me up and makes me feel ready for the day after. I also try to meditate for at least 10 minutes every morning.
What do you miss from your childhood?
To get through the day as carefree as a child. Not worrying about anything and living more for the moment. Meditation, by the way, is a key to reaching this stage again.
