10 STEPS TO IMPROVED SKIN
Your skin is your largest organ and has many vital and health-critical functions. It not only covers your entire body surface, but also forms your personal barrier against external influences and stimuli. With these 10 tips, you can promote your long-term skin health.
1. move
Exercise is the key to a healthy body - sure, but did you know that it's also the key to healthy skin?
Here's why: when we move, our heart pumps more blood through the body - which means your skin is better supplied with oxygen and nutrients. At the same time, the increased blood flow rids the skin of toxins, resulting in less skin damage. Intense sweating opens up your pores, removing clogged sebum and impurities. But even better, regular exercise helps regulate your stress hormones and can reduce stress-related skin conditions, boost the immune system and counteract inflammation - exercise makes for clearer skin.
2. drink enough water
Did you know that more than 50% of the human body is made up of water? The skin, the largest organ, even consists of more than 60% water. But your body also loses a lot of water every day, which makes it necessary for you to continuously replenish your stores so that your body functions properly.
When your skin is dehydrated, it becomes dry, flaky and wrinkled, and if this condition persists, premature ageing and even infected and fragile skin can result.
Although water requirements vary from person to person, you should drink between 2 and 4 liters. The color of your urine will tell you - a light yellow color is just right, dark yellow urine indicates a need for water and watery, white urine means you should drink a little less.
3. use sun protection
Finding the right balance of sun exposure is a tricky subject, and here's why: UV rays (UVB, to be precise) are responsible for the development of vitamin D, which is essential for human health. But too much UV light (UVA & UVB) has a negative effect on your skin (we've all been sunburned at some point), but at its worst, it can damage your skin's DNA and lead to cancer and photo-aging.
So use your sunscreen daily and be aware that some UV rays always get through: in winter, in the shade and they can even penetrate windows.
4. avoid refined sugar
Artificial or "refined" sugar has a really negative effect on your skin. Not only does it damage the skin's elastin and collagen, which accelerates ageing and increases skin stiffness (we're talking wrinkles here). But acne and inflammation are also directly linked to the consumption of unnatural, refined sugar. Those with a sweet tooth who struggle with blemishes are better off eating fruit. Blueberries, for example, are rich in antioxidants that can counteract skin ageing.
5. make green vegetables the main part of your diet
Leafy greens are the BEST choice - spinach, kale, celery. It is the ultimate source of protein, essential multivitamins and minerals, and antioxidants. It is also a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids (= an essential fatty acid that is crucial for maintaining human health but cannot be produced by the body itself) and chlorophyll, which can support oxygen transportation in your body. As leafy vegetables are rich in fiber, they also have an excellent gut-supporting function.
With our Daily Greens Package, you can easily consume up to 3.7 kg of green vegetables per liter. With recurring delivery, you can easily drink one low-sugar green juice per day and save 10%.
6. take care of your gut health - the key to healthy skin
The human gut contains many billions of essential bacteria, fungi and microorganisms (also known as the microbiome). As you've probably heard before, maintaining the balance of the microbiome is directly linked to your overall health and immunity. But did you know that it's also a key component in skincare? Your gut and your skin are directly linked and poor diet, an imbalanced gut microbiome and food intolerances can lead to skin blemishes and irritation.
In the same vein, select supportive foods (e.g. dark and leafy greens) and potent pre- and probiotics like DALUMA's BIOTIC 20/5 BILLION lead to a healthy gut that can boost your skin's metabolism, slow down the aging process and even help repair damaged skin.
7. attach importance to restful sleep
"Beauty sleep" is a justified expression. Your skin follows a day-night rhythm that is supported by hormones and internal processes that help your skin to repair and regenerate overnight. If you continually shorten or disrupt this natural rhythm, skin problems and faster ageing skin can result.
Poor sleep can also lead to increased cortisol levels, which causes the skin to increase sebum production, leading to clogged pores and inflammation.
8. rely on better ingredients
Many cosmetic products contain all kinds of artificial chemicals to make them more durable or to give them certain effects. Unfortunately, however, they also have serious and undesirable side effects:
Parabens are often used as preservatives in cosmetics. They prevent contamination by bacteria and fungi, but are also said to have several negative effects on our skin and body.
Sulphates are propellants that create the foaming effect of cosmetics and can bind oils and bacteria - but unfortunately also the good ones that your skin needs. This is why skin irritation is a common side effect.
According to recent studies, up to 90% of cosmetic products contain microplastics (even anti-aging creams and moisturizers, not just scrubs as many still believe). Their effect on our overall health is not yet clear, but it's certainly not a good idea to rub plastic all over yourself every day. However, the effects on our environment are devastating and well known.
For this reason, we only use "clean" ingredients that are not suspected of harming human health. All our skincare products do not contain ingredients such as parabens, artificial fragrances, chemical UV filters, phthalates, etc.

10. reduce stress
Continuous exposure to stress has a significant impact on your health - stress hormones affect your overall health and immune system, making you more susceptible to infections and illnesses.
Increased production of stress-induced cortisol can negatively affect your skin in many ways. Skin inflammation, facial tension and anxiety also cause wrinkles and lines (so-called frown lines) and make you look instantly older.
Take a deep breath, consciously smile more and support your inner balance through meditation and movement in order to let go of stress.
